It seems that Canadian troops have been in ‘dialog’ with the Afghanistan Taliban, but unfortunately the official Canadian position is to refute/admonish this.
Why would you not want to open a dialog with your enemy? What reason would you have in not wanting to understand their concerns – to know your enemy? Why would you continue to polarize the issue by making them ‘terrorists’ and you ‘good’? It doesn’t make sense. What does make sense however, is how canadian values present in the men and women over there, seep out into the common day to day routines of ‘war’ …discovering solutions that wouldn’t be considered by someone sitting in a desk thousands of miles away.
Solutions like actually talking to your enemy. It truly baffles the mind!
